These are supplied ready framed (by ourselves) in a moulding chosen specifically for our work, ideal as wedding gifts. 

Photo-Etching is a 150 year old printing technique (photogravure) which creates a unique type of hand printed photographic print. We are offering two choices of paper, white and cream which as you can see from the images above allows you to choose the feel of the finished piece. We can offer alternative papers, inks and framing on request.

We have three choices of size with the 10in x 8in as our special offer. Size refers to the image size, your image can be any size up to the maximum on either dimension.

This item is normally £149 but can be purchased for a limited time for £99.00 with your stationery order, all we ask is that you order stationery to a value greater than £150.00.

How to Order

Ordering is very straightforward. Make your paper selection below and click on Add To Cart and complete the ordering process. As part of check-out procedure you'll be provided with a unique reference number, it will also be emailed to you as confirmation of your order. Email or post your digital file to us including the reference number and your ordering is complete.

What Type of Digital File?

Most modern digital cameras, when set to Large file size, will produce a jpeg file that will be suitable to create a photo-etching. If the file size is to small (this is very rare) we will contact you and we will not print the image until we have a new or larger file. You don't need to make any adjustments to the file before sending, we use your colour jpeg image and make the adjustments in our studio.

What Type of Image Works Well?

Because the print is quite different from a normal photographic print, most images will print very well as we aim to produce an artful result. The best results are from images that are simple and unfussy, portraiture is particularly effective. If you'd like to view more examples of photo-etching images please click here.

How do we do it? We create a full size transparency on film from your digital file and expose it to a sensitised printing plate. The plate is then etched and inked by hand ready for printing onto dampened etching paper. The press work on centuries old principles and is entirely hand driven, as you can see from the image. The printwork requires constant attention to detail, with no two prints from the same plate being identical. The print is then pressed slowly to flatten the paper  ready for framing. All of the materials used to create the finished print are of the highest quality which ensures that the print can last for hundreds of years.
